Default quick question-oil pressure switch

hey guys. i need to know if the oil pres switch located on the back of the block behind the intake serves any function other than provide a value for the oil press gauge. i am installing aftermarket gauges and would like to use this location and delete the stock sensor, unless it gives some kind of input to the pcm. obd2 if that matters. thanks guys

Unplug the sensor and see. I am pretty sure nothing will be affected. But your stock gauge will peg out.

the car isnt running yet. im swapping it into my 86 monte and i dont want to buy the stock sensor if it is only needed for the gauge, because i am using aftermarket gauges and they come with a sensor. thanks for the help though. anybody else know anything?
