Default Tubular K...

Hey guys I was wondering which tubular K frame guys with iron blocks are using. I'm concerned that the extra weight of the block might crack some of the lesser Ks out there.

Thanks

I have some stuff from Burkhart, Chuck was pretty cool to deal with. Post some new photos when you swap the k-member.

I have the UMI K member, it has a twin tube that is much stronger, while still keeping the weight down. I jack from the K member regularly with no problems.

I'd recomend the UMI, It's built a lil better, but to be honest the #'s that I saw for the iron block lq engines was actually a bit lighter that an LT1 so you should be o.k. These are the #'s that were posted on a post that I found.
Weight in pounds, Fully trimmed:
LT1/LT4: 562
LS1/LS6: 459
LS2: 448
LS7: 458
LQ4/LQ9: 525

If you put a motor plate on the car and don't run the mounts I don't think it will matter anywhere near as much due to the motor not beign supported by the K member itself.

I am going to add a motorplate over the winter and get a full AJE front end afterwards. it will certainly make mounting a vacum pump alot easier later, as well as a few other advantages.

Our K-member will work just fine with a iron block.

Also we sell them with out the motor mounts when using a motor plate. Just give us a call or send a e-mail and I can help with that.

Thank you!
