Calling F1 people..
I was wondering for all the F1 people- what kind of blocks are you using? Are the 6.0L Iron/Aluminum blocks, or LS2 based, LS1? What is the desired compression ratio as well?

He is my best guess. Running 18 lbs on pump gas + methanol had to put me at the limit or slightly over and then add in a fair amount of blow by and oil into the combustion chamber which greatly increases the chances of detonation. I detonated 2 pistons, so I am seriously considering going with a LSX block now.

Bob, I agree the LS2 is strong and I could take what I have learned and probably be fine. But last winter I bored my LS2 block .005 to make the cylinders perfectly round and now I have a mark in the 2 cylinders that I messed the pistons up in. They might clean up with .005 or .010 bore but that just makes the cylinders alittle weaker. I could resleeve those 2 cylinders but that isn't cheap so I figured now is the time to go LSX and have a really good foundation. I am pretty sure under boost the aluminum block is moving around some so over time there is more of a chance for problems down the road where the iron block shouldn't move and last much longer.

So it sounds like your lower end looked good, bearings and main bore? That is good info to know. Makes me feel more comfortable. I had contemplated the girdle when I screwed mine together last winter, but I opted against it based on some of the success I have heard of on this board.
I am trying to keep mine a little more on the mild side for street driving purposes. 900+RWHP would probably be too extreme for me and my 4L65E, but it is nice to know that kinda power is there.
I will pretty much have the same set-up as yours with an auto when I put it all in. I switched my heads to a 225 AFR and used the 205's on my stock LS1 this summer.
I now realize that the 650RWHP I had hoped for would have been easily obtained with a smaller Procharger, milder cam, and 205 heads. I will be happy with a mid 10 car in race trim.
A part of me wants to put this thing into my 66 Nova, just can't figure out fitment of the intercooler, but at least then, I cold turn it up
