I'd go with the new M9 rear from Moser as long as the car is either just a week-end driver, or a track only car. Moser wants everyone to know that this new killer torque arm is going to be noisy, and they want people to know this so that people don't complain about it. My car cut a 1.29 60 ft with this new M9 combination, on dot drag radials and the car is not completely dialed in yet. Bob

to me a 9" will do just fine. Unless you have over 700 HP I can't see wasteing the extra money. No-one can see it under there anyway. $1900 without the center section? Little too pricey for me.

Haven't read anything on this m9, however, i have a spohn adj ta and it doesn't have any poly bushings, just a 4130 cm connection and it isn't too bad.. it makes a thud sometimes when shifting gears, but thats it really.. and it's on my car that i drive daily

In my opinion why waste an extra grand just because the torque arm mounts to the housing directly? i have the original moser 9" and id rather have the extra 42lbs on the back tires anyways.

im thinking the 9 inch would work great for my app. Like said above. If you dont have some ungodly HP numbers, and arent a ure drag car, its kind of un-needed to me. Plus, I dont mind the extra weight on the back tires either.......

Do you have a pic of the front mount/cross member area?

That pic is sort of misleading...I think a pic of the area where the TQ. Arm mounts on the cross member would be more appropriate as I don't believe there is ANY TQ. arm that has poly back at where it mounts to the rear.

Basically the 9" is 2,250.00 with 35 spline/spool/street gear/nodular section.
The M9 is 3,025.00 with the same thing plus a torque arm which is a difference of 775.00
If you have a torque arm you're paying 775.00 extra, if you don't have a torque arm it's not that bad of a deal because a quality torque arm like madman's setup will cost you about 700.00, which is a 75.00 difference and you factor in the lighter fabricated housing, you're really only paying 75.00 for a housing upgrade.
However like a few people have said it may not be legal in stock type classes requiring factory bolt on locations.
I am not sure, but it is a point to consider.
The M9 has more drive shaft tunnel clearance, but there are ways to move over stock type torque arms on the rear end as well, but you have to do things to make it happen, the M9 is ready to go.
The 9" will take many torque arms, the M9 has one torque arm, if you want a shorter style, guess what too bad.
As far as power I read there is no reason to go with an M9 if you don't make over 700 hp.
Both rear ends will handle high power if braced and setup right.
Before the Fab9, M9 even existed guys were running back braced 9" with 40 spline axles, spool and pro gears in cars with close to and even over 2,000+ hp at over 3,000 pounds.
Ever hear of pro street?
Can you run 1,500 hp in a 9", Yes. Does my car make 1,500 hp, no, do 1% of the people on ls1tech make that, probably not, so I don't see why that's an issue.
My take on it, if you have a torque arm go with a 9".
If you don't have a torque arm and don't have to worry about legality in any racing classes go with the M9.
I know some other fabricators offer M9 style (fabbed housings) with short or long torque arms, but you said M9 vs. 9" so I didn't mention it.
