Black Friday shopping
so who else besides me was smart and did their Black Friday holiday shopping online from home/work?
i got:
1x Toshiba HD-DVD player (with 7 free HD-DVD movies) | Normally $300, Now $200
2x Casio Exilim Z75 7.2 Megapixel digital cameras || Normally $180, Now $140
2x 4GB SDHC flash memory for the cameras above || Normally $70, Now $28
Seasons 1, 2, & 3 of the Sopranos || Normally $60, Now $20
Seasons 4, 5, & 6 (part 1) of the Sopranos || Normally $100, Now $30
i tried ONCE to physically go to the store for Black Friday, and it was hopeless. the store opened at 6am, and i didn't get off work until 7am, then went straight there from work. the line for the checkout counter was already lined up all the way around 3 walls of the store, and none of the stuff that i wanted was there anymore .....and it was almost harder to get in & out of there as it is to make your way through a mosh pit at a concert. i told myself then & there that i'd never try physically going to the store again on Black Friday.
the kicker is that most of the stuff that you get the deals on are also available online for the same price....you can just have it delivered to your house, or in some cases, order online & pick it up at the store a few days later, after everything has quieted down a bit......but crazy people still insist on getting up way before daylight and fighting hundreds or thousands of others by going to the store.
screw all that nonsense!

If you would have been really smart like me, 3 weeks ago Walmart had a "secret deal" and was selling that same HD DVD player for $98 as a 1 day offer
I learned my lesson last year. No more black friday for me The girl convinced me on going saying we would be going to all kinds of electronics stores. I think we went to best buy and sharper image for a total of 30 minutes. The rest of the 12 hours were were clothes shopping

i worked at best buy last year. i was there at 4:30am and there was a massive line.. and it was ridiculously busy the whole day. it was an 11 hour shift i had. good god i dont miss that place.
and if your not one of the first 50 people in line, the thing you probably want will not be there

I went to Best Buy last year at 3am...was too late. The line was wrapped around the entire strip center and into the Costco parking lot a few blocks away. People at the front of the line bought stuff they didn't even want just so they could sell it on Ebay the next day...that pissed me off. I did however end up with a nice all-in-one printer for $20 and SD & jump drive 1gb memory for $5 each. So, all in all, not too shabby, but still not what I wanted :o(.

sorry, one's for me, the other is an x-mas gift
that's not so much being smart, as being "in the know".....kinda a "in the right place at the right time" sorta thing....i saw reports of that deal after the fact, so it sucks that i didn't know about it ahead of time. still, $100 off the price is not bad.
