I have to pull the engine due to a valve breaking off my head and destroying a piston. Need some info about boring the stock block to 4.0 while I have it out and disassembled. Can it be done and will the cylinders have to be resleeved? Also while I've got it out can you do anything to the stock crank to increase the stroke to about 4.0 without buying an aftermarket crank?

You can only go up to .010 with a 2000-2002 block. A 4.000 bore would require resleeving.

Stock crank is 3.622 and you can only offset grind maybe .200 so can't get to 4.000 stroke.

Give them a call. They can help you on the bore. You would have to get it resleaved to an all bore block, in order to get a 4.0 bore.

Yes, you can offset grind the crank to get more cubes. 3.72 will be your limit on the stroke, with the stock crank.

To figure out the cubic inch you can just go by this simple formula.

.7854 x 8 x Bore x Bore x Stroke = cubic inch

You could do a 382 storker kit it come's with every think you need except heads and cam the kit you can get is around 4k I think.

While on this subject,does anyone know if the 6.0 crank would fit in the 5.7 LS1.And what bore/stroke/rod length the 6.0 is?

Correct me if i'm wrong guys, but it my understanding the size of the 6.0 liter crank is identical to the 5.7 LS1 crank and as such, either crank is interchangeable in either block.

I'm looking atmy GM HighTech Perf. Magazine and the numbers from GM are that the stroke and rod length are identical between the 5.7 ls1 and 6.0 lq4 engines, the only difference is the bore size and heads(which has a decreased comp. ratio).

SOME of the 6.0 cranks are LONGER. But they are all the same stroke. I thought I read that the pre-00 6.0 cranks are longer... but please check that.
