Default Exhaust elbow bypass mod ?

Is anyone doing the Exhaust elbow bypass mod ?
where you cut a hole in the over the axle main pipe and a hole in the passenger side tail pipe and weld a 1"-2" piece of elbow pipe to them.
I did this to my 97 SS. It helps if there is a restriction , any exhaust backing up do to the SLP muffler limits , this elbow will act like a bypass valve,

I was thinking on doing it to my 01 SS for more flow , It didnt make my 97SS much louder , i think i welded a piece of old 1 3/4" stainless header pipe to them,

If anyone knows the link with the directions or has done this mod to a LS1 F-body
Please let me know how it sounds and if any power was made.

I might also have a new 3.5" over the axle main pipe made up (I think 4" is over kill )and taper it down to fit my SLP dual dual stock muffler , I dont like the way SLP cushed the 3" pipe where it goes over the axle.

So this tube runs under the axle and is kinda like a straight pipe?

no no , it connects your 3" single main over the axle pipe to you tail pipe , it helps bypass the muffler, borla kinda uses the same thing with there F-body systems, except you change out plates with different size holes in them, big hole allows exhaust to flow straight through to the passenger side tail pipe , small hold directs more exhaust through the muffler,

I know there are a couple guys that have done the mods on F-cars but not many. usually people just buy a louder cat back.

the mod is similar to what vette owners do for a louder free flowing exhaust for minimal cost..
