i must be stupid. cant install airlid :(
thats the only reason i can think of . anyway there is a hose and a wire going to the silencer both of which i pulled off. my new tsp lid only has 1 small hole. bigger than the wire and smaller than the hose. what the hell do i do here? which one to i hook up to the new lid and what do i do with the other one?

Take the rubber out of the hole in stock lid.
The big tube at the back of the lid is a "AIR Tube".. it needs a small filter.
This should help: Install University

Re: i must be stupid. cant install airlid :(
what does this tube do and what kind of air filter should i get? also where should i put it if it doesnt hook up to anything anymore? i looked at the instructions on that site and say nothing about this tube plus they talk about taking the maf sensor apart but i didnt do any of that. i just took off the lid and silencer, pulled the sensor out and put it into the new lid. im not sure if the new lid fits right though because there are small gaps at and near the corners of the lid. they look like they may be sealed by the gasket that comes with the K&N but how would i tell if it wasnt sealing properly?

Most any of the sponsors can get you the little filter for the tube. Contact TSP since you got the lid from them - I'm sure they have 'em. Also I know Thunder has them listed on their website. They usually go for around $15 or so. Most people cut the hose shorter, attach the filter (its like a valve cover breather) with a hose clamp, and just zip tie it out of the way.
Its purpose is just to pull air for your AIR system.

could i get away without a filter for a week or so 'till tsp ships me the filter or should i keep it parked untill i get one? the lid is on and all but i was planning on going to the drags this weekend
edit: what does the air system do? i know it has something to do with emissions. what if i capped it off till i got the filter?

You can pick up one of those little "breather" filters at Pep Boys or Autozone. They are in the "sport compact" (aka ricer) section.

Pick up something - anything - to use as a filter temporarily. This air does get into the engine and it will be unfiltered if you don't use something. Not a good idea.

What you need is a K&N Breather, p.n. 8-62-1030. I'm pretty sure that TSP sells them... it is listed on their site.

We have to breather in stock for the newer f-bodies. Also I have seen people go with the autozone breather & it will work for awhile also. Get the autozone one first so you can try out that new lid

Shoot, sorry, just went back up and read that you installed it already. My bad. Those things get dirty quick. No need to fuss. Just clean it on occasion.

That tube is the intake for the AIR system. If I remember correctly, it sucks in air to add to the engine during startup to heat up the cats quicker... someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The tube that you put the filter on sucks in the air, it then injects it into you header or manifold via the air pump in front of your drivers side quarter panel.
