SBC on E85?
i've got a buddy who's wonderin' what it takes to make his truck run on E85. it's a '67 chevy pickup. not stock at all, but i'll spare the details because i think the new motor will be totally different anyway. it'll have a turbo and i think the block will be from a '98 vortec tahoe, 2-bolt splayed to 4-bolt mains. that's about all i can say for sure.
anywho, he wants to know what it takes to run E85 in it, and i really don't know, so i figured i'd post this up.
thanks guys

well.....it's injected now. he's talked about going back to carb...but i have good reason to believe it'll be a new, better fuel injection setup....so we'll go with that.

Well, you just have to figgure out what the normal fuel consumption is and how much more E85 you will have to use, if it is a strict E85 vehicle you will be ably to bump up compression and/or boost. It is equal to 105 octane so the detonation is not like 93 octane. It just uses allot more.

and make sure all your lines, pump, and fuel system parts are compatable with E85 or alcohol. you cant just use any fuel pump and rubber line is a no no the alcohol makes it swell up and you loose flow diameter.

E85 also acts as a cleaner. So if you have any crap in your stock tank i might cause it to come loose and clog up your lines. Im running e85 in my nova but mines carbureted. Im running all braided lines and a fuel cell.
