I'm so freaking pissed...
got a big a$$ bolt in my back rear 315/35/17..
and to boot, it's on the outside of the last grove of the tire..
I haven't even had these for 4 months, and it's already ruined..
and to top it off, I had to put the donut tire on the car.. and it was flat.
so I drive home about 5 miles with a donut on one side( after I payed the ransom at the air pump), and a 315/35/17 on the other side.. doing about 40 MPH in a 55MPH ...
and now I have to get ready to go back to work..

was checking out Discount tire, and all they carry is an Eagle F1..
or I can order 2 Nitto NT 555R Drag Radial for the price of one Eagle F1..
any suggestions????
would the drag radials handle well in wet weather?
I use my car as a family car, and dont wont to endanger them.

Same exact thing happend to me on the Beltway except mine blew out. I would try plugging it yourself to see how it holds air first.

For a DD I would probably do the F1's, better wet traction.

Sorry to hear about the tires Daniel, but what pisses me off is this inconsistent weather, the only positive thing is that at least it doesn't snow badly here so we get to drive our cars year round. Still WTF is up with weather, our cars are products of our enviroment so I wonder how much money we would save if we didnt have worry about slick rainy roads 2 weeks of each month

You may also consider some KDW(2)'s. On the pricey side but great tires.

Nitto's handle excelent in wet weather as long as they arent bald. I say go get a plug patch combo and patch that bitch yourself then get a new tire. If its a new tire, no need in wasting it. It can be patched but most places dont do it because the fact that it most likely wont be stable there on the curbed part of the tire and could come off.

well I am leaning towards the Nitto's..
I can get 2 of them for 485 balanced, and certificates.
I have had the sumitomo's for about 4 months, and they are already wearing down..
I don't get very good traction with them, and was thinking of going with the DR's..
just wasn't sure how they where in wet weather..

Should have put that donut on the front instead of the rear, seen a few fucked up rear ends that way.

Yeah I never got above 40MPH..
the donut said don't go above 55 but since there was an offset in the tire size I went slower, so as to try and not heat of the pinion seal.. and have it blow..

so, now I am heading off to Discount to pick up the tires.

nittos hold up in the wet pretty well. only thing is you cant get the road hazzard warranty on them.

Where is La Porte, If you are close to DFW I can try and patch your tire.
I work at a tire shop and Ive done a few on the sidewall for my cars and friends car and alot of times they will hold.


I would never reccomend a DR on a DD car especially if its driven in anything but nice weather.

Oh and PS "KWD"s arent acailable in that size.

You pretty much have "KD"s, Eagle FI GS-D3, Dunlop Sport 8000, some competition tires like the R1, the nitto DR, a BFG DR, and the sumitomo HTRZs, off the top of my head.

The Sumis are only like 120 a tire but are hard to find last time I checked.

well I got the DR's on there now..
and I did get the Road hazard on them..
ran them this morning, and they actually ride better than the Sumitomo's did
even on wet pavement so far I am happy with them..
they do pic up every little rock or pebble on the road.. I hear the tire throwing them, hitting the inner fender

Kevin, I couldnt wait a week to get these in..
needed something asap, and went with these..
we will see how they do...
it atleast gets me ready to go to the track now

I found the sumi's for $98 a piece..
but couldnt wait for them to ship, and then find time to get them put on..
tire rack had the best price.

You shouldn't run a do-nut on the back with limited slip.

I feel your pain though. I got a sawz-all blade in one of my KDs. Now I have one setting in my garage w/out a mate.

Yeah those Eagle F1's saved my life very good investment. had them on my fathers 03 Cobra hit a piece of limestone doing about 80 then it blew and was able to go to the next exit and make it into discount tire come to find out the tire was ok but the was a hole inside of the wheel so good thing i had to spare rims so i just bought a new tire $$$$

So for a daily driver these F1 run flats are a good investment

go to discount tire for your Nittos, you wont pay 485$, much less. Think I pay 170 ea but i also didnt have them mounted and balanced.
