Default gears on a 94 Z28

what stock gear comes on a 94 z28? my son just bought one today and everything looks stock but man is it hard to launch it will just roast the tires with a small blip of the throttle. it turns 2200 rpms at 70mph which makes me think 3.73's so what do you guys think? im thinking this little car would would take my firehawk from a dig at least from 0-60 i was so impressed with the lt1 down low.

Sounds like you have a 3.42 gear in it. That gear is in my uncle's 94 Z. I really like it. The car is an automatic with the stock 245/50/16 tire size, right?

My wife's 94 Z has factory 3.23 ratio with an automatic. On the transmission mount question, hers broke and I replaced it with a poly mount that was much stiffer. I hated it, it was too harsh on the shift and you could feel more vibrations after I installed it. I went to the auto parts store and bought a stock replacement and it is great.

yes it has that size tires. my hawk has 3.42's and this car feels lower than that. like i said before its turning 2200 rpms at 70 mph does that sound right for 3.42's?

Look in the glove compartment, there should be a sticker with all the different codes. Under GU and a number should tell you what your gear ratio. I have 94 a4 and have GU5 code for a 3.23 stock rear gear. Call a GM dealer service dept, when in doubt. Hope this help some.
