Default SLP Air-Temp Module OK with aftermarket MAF?

Checking out the module right now. It's supposed to bump up the timing, give some power, but I was wondering if I can use it with an aftermarket MAF. My buddie let me use his module and MAF for a week. I noticed a difference and all, liked it, and might buy the parts now. But when I checked out SLP's site they said only use it with the stock MAF. What do you guys think?

Here is a good write-up you should read first. http://www.installuniversity.com/

It "fools" the PCM into giving up some timing
margin. Whether this is a good idea or not would
depend on your natural mixture and spark advance,
a MAF that under-reports airflow makes lean and
more advance. If you have no KR now then maybe
you can get away with it. Aftermarket MAFs have a
pretty wide range of results, some give you KR
without even touching the timing. Maybe with a
'99 you have a little more slack than later years.

But with a ram air hood, you may have a low enough
IAT reading that this tricker makes no change in
timing. That wasn't the question asked, just an
observation.

I can't believe they are still selling that crap! If you really want one? I have one I will mail you. Save your bucks for a "tuner" and do it right the first time....which most on here, probably, did not... like me. Only if one could do it again...huh?
Later.

What do I think? The IAT has a job. Leave it. MAF makes no difference.

The IAT is a thermistor. Low intake air temps produce high resistance (aprox 101k @ -40C) while high intake temps cause low sensor resistance (aprox 80 ohms @ 130C). The IAT sensor signal voltage is used by the PCM to assist in calculating the fuel injector pulse width, idle speed, canister purge and timing.

Where the IAT plays its role is in the Air Density System! Air density is derived from IAT and MAP sensor inputs. The IAT sensor measures the air temp that is entering the engine. This signal works in conjunction with the MAP sensor to determine air density. As the intake manifold pressure increases, the air density in the intake manifold also increases and additional fuel is required. This info from the IAT and MAP is used by the PCM to control injector pulse width.
Now the Air density system is used in conjunction with the MAF to determine timing. Therfore; the IAT does more than one thinks.

Well, thanks for the help guys. I've decided to say screw the Module, but I'm still gonna try to buy the MAF from my friend. As far as the tuner, I guess I'll be getting a Predator in the near future
