Default Absolute Speed stage 2 5.3's...should I finally change?

Should I spend the money and finally replace my Absolute Speed stage 2 5.3's with my 230/236 .592/.602 112lsa cam. It made 424/386...the last time on the rollers. I have a FAST 90/90 setup...Comp r lifters w/ 977 dual springs. Yella Terra 1.7's.......ummmm Walbro 255, Delphi/lucas 42lb'ers, LS1speed rails....yada yada yada

Anyway, do you think that this is a decent number through my 12 bolt w/ my hooker, off road y pipe, Loudmouth setup.....or should I look at getting a new set of heads, and a new cam.

I am down here in Florida just to let you know.

Thanks for any input guys!!

Mike

Seems alittle weak...(I made 430/410 threw an A4/12-bolt 4.10 with a milder combo)
But I dont think it would be worth changing everything..

Just be happy

I am fine running a bigger cam....the biggest if need be. I got this 230/236 cam because this was the biggest I could run at the time (safely) due to PTV clearance.

I see T rex cars w/ heads and without for that matter....making as much cam only and way more h/c.

You guys don't see it being worth the money.

if its worth it depends on your bank account...and desire for more power.

i can't imagine you'd gain that much power swapping the heads.

but upgrading the cam could yield power. i'd spec out a new cam that fits with your current heads.
lobe technology has come a long way recently.

if nothing else....flycut

Stupid question...but what is the best way to go about finding what would fit and what would not fit???

Taking a head off and measuring PTV...
I then would flycut and have PatrickG or Tr grind u a custom cam for your setup
It might be worth 15 to 20RW.....

So it is as simple as just claying the motor....and the cam geniuses working the math to figure out what I can fit...

They are from 2003.....were the lightweights out then???

I have had no problems since they were installed. Would you still change them?

Mike I would not. You have some of the best factory modified heads out there. Jay knew his ****, but didn't know how to run a business. You may look at having someone else look at the tune. I pushed 431rwhp with a 224 thunder cam.

I would say take it to the track. My car put down 350rwhp on a dyno and whipped a lot of 400rwhp+ cars (some ls1s). The dyno I was on is known to read really low. I say take it to the track.

Mike whats up.
I was a former A. Speed guy until Jay screwed us.
I will say being a former AS guy there have been some great improvements in cylinder head design. The ETP heads and TFS heads are a much more quality cylinder head.
The power throughout the powerband is a completely different story and the TQ is much greater.
These heads also have superior P/V clearence, and a great port both intake and exhaust. I had 3 or 4 sets of AS heads and the exhaust port was very poor on every head. I am down here in Fla to if you want give me a call tomorrow and I will get you up to date on the new products.
