Default How do mods affect gas mileage?

My WS6 is my DD, so I am interested in how what mods affect my MPG. I'm sure a big *** cam will only hurt, but how do a lid, intake, TB, MAF, !EGR(and other emissions parts), etc... affect your gas mileage?

I did not notice any changes...You really don't need an aftermarket MAF. The stock one will flow plenty until you start making some serious horsepower.

well as far as a lid/intake and exhaust go they should improve your gas mileage, because you are actually causing the engine to worke more efficiently (ie. not having to struggle to pull air in or push air out of the cylinders)

its not so much what they do to your car, but what they do to the way you drive it. i after i got my cutouts, i drove faster because that sound was awesome. thats what REALLY causes you to lose mileage, but nothing noticeable.

Only things that will hurt your gas mileage are gears or a stall, unless you start getting real wild with a cam, heads, stroker motors, turbos etc.(if you do all that, who cares about mileage)

Bolt ons generally help gas mileage. its when you drop in a big cam that you'll notice it drop

I bolted on milled heads that increased the compression and gained MPH.

that is because you cam isn't that big....you will start to see a good decrease in mpg with a lil bit bigger cams

i feel i lost 1 to 1.5 mpg do to the tune, not really the mods. i agree that with mods i'm alittle more willing to drop the hammer which could be the reason. i do smell more exhaust gas with tune. (i'm only at 13.1:1 A/F) after mods and tune i average 20.5 mpg. when my car was stock and i drove like a grandpa i think i got 23 with my A4. man i luv on ramps!

My gas mileage went up with all the bolt ons including 3:73 gears. (Gears didn't affect much I noticed) I was getting 21-24 city and 27 hwy. Then MPG went down when I added the simple Hotcam and upgraded the 241 heads to 243 stock heads.
