Z06 lightweight valves in 01?
Here's the question.
The 2002 Z06 had the LS6 with the wilder cam, the "yellow" beehive springs, and the lightweight sodium-filled valves.
Has anyone ever heard of a 2001 Z06, with the 385 horse motor, the "mellower" cam, and the blue valvesprings, coming with the lightweight sodium-filled valves.
Per the opinion of a reputable engine-builder, the set of 2001 Z06 LS6 heads I'm talking about actually came with the lightweight valves.
Anyone heard of GM doing this on some 2001 'vettes?

All 01-04 Z06 motors are the same except for the cam and springs. Valves were the same. The 01 cam was more aggressive than the LS1 cam, and the 02 cam was more aggressive than the 01 cam (hence the change in valve springs)

I've also read that the '01 had the sodium filled valves. Pretty sure the 20 horse came from the cam. May want to ease up a little there QSZ, were all just trying to help each other out here.

im not being "hard" thats just how i am... sorry if you dont like it?
01's did not have sodium filled valves. i have an 01, it does not have them. search on corvette forum, they will tell you the same thing.
and i am sorry about the motor comment, it just bugs the tar out of me that people call a gasoline ENGINE, a motor... which is powered by electricity.

Would it be possible to have the valves in some 01's and not others?
I'm wondering if they were added in late 01 or something?
The blue springs only indicate that the heads weren't paired with the 02 cam, correct?

i went into chevy one day..the guy at the parts counter showed me different part numbers between 01 and 02 valves for the LS6. They aren't the same, and they won't even make a difference. Lightweight valves are kinda mehh..who cares. If you're using ramp angles extreme enough on your camshaft that your patriot duals or whatever other springs can't control them, then you can start caring.
But to answer the question AFAIK the 01's didn't have them.
