Default Oil Pressure Gauge Pegged

Car runs/drives perfectly, but the analog oil gauge is pegged at 80. Dashboard computer display says 128/129 PSI at startup and during driving. Gauge does drop to 0 at cut off. My friend is putting it on the AutoTap later today for a look. No check gauges indicator lit. I figure it's an electronics problem, but wanted expert opinions!

I admit to buying car with this issue, but have full warranty if this means bad trouble, and fellow Corvette owners tell me the car is in great shape otherwise. No prior repair details.

Thanks for tolerating a rookie question!

Thank you for the info. AutoTap read 4.5 volts steady while driving, which translates to 129 psi..so the gauge is OK, but something feeding the sender or the sender is not.

If the sender broke or is unplugged it will peg the gauge.

The sender is broke, or unplugged, like felton316 says.

Happens all the time.

Yup, sounds like an electrical issue.
