Question on Lugs Choices For 15"s?
Hey Guys I want to run some 15" wheels on my 97 Z28. Probably going to go with the summit star wheels as the car will see WAY more street time than track time until it gets a better rear under it.
Ive heard the Summit wheels arent the best cause they run a stock acorn style lug.
And since I want to run these especially in the front, would I be safer if I upgraded the studs to some ARP wheel studs?
Also If I decided to run a shank style lug, would it also work with the summit wheels?
I dont know what a shank style lug is sorry. All Ive heard is apparently its better for drag racing.

call summit and ask them..they got the info you requested. i saw shank style listed especially for their wheels
whats the problem with acorn lugs? i would recommend arp lugs with whatever desicion you go with.

Shank style is better for racing. Every Drag Specific wheel is a shank style lug. It does not have a tapper and actually goes inside the lug hole of the wheel. Upgrading to stronger studs is always a good idea.
Take a look at the Billet Specialties wheels we are carrying. I can get you into a set of 15x3.5 or 4 and 15x10 with center caps, and NHRA legal valve stems for 929.00.
Let me know if we can help.

TAenvy, the Summit Star wheels will use the acorn style lug nut. The lug will be recessed so a tuner style would work best (socket clearance). You will not be able to use a shank style.

Running ARP studs is always a good idea on all F-cars. On my car I had to run a small spacer to fit the Summit stars on the front so I went with longer 2.5" ARP studs. Stock studs would be downright dangerous to run with a spacer on the fronts.
