Default Main bearing question

My mains say 001 on them which I am sure means .001 but is it + or - .001?
All the new stuff is labeled as 1 or 1x? which is which?

.001 means to tighten up the oil clearance and .001X means to loosen up oil clearance

Mic the crank or use plastic gauge when you install them to make shore you have the right clearance
