Default Car is backfiring?

My 98 Camaro has a 2000 Ls1 with Hooker lt's and ory with Magnaflow exhaust. I changed the plugs (actually another member did it for me) and it continues to backfire. I had a light tune from ARD but it for some unknown reason it backfires after coming off the throttle especially after high revs. What is causing this and how can I resolve it. It's pretty annoying and quite embarrassing too. As always your help and comments are always appreciated.

Mario

My car kind of does the same, but mine does it from the tune.. The transmission pressure makes the engine rev down from a high speed...
Well I think its the transmission pressure.... From what I can tell it is the tranny pressure.
Not positive, but I know it does the popping sound, and I love it....

its not really a backfire on mine... So yours pops hard and loud only once???
or is a consistant backfire that does over and over?

Hmmmm, good question quickblade> Most of the times it's a consistant light popping, and at times it's a one time loud bang. i did however notice when I had the stock manifolds on there it didn't do it at all. After he headers and exhaust it's been non stop.

reason I ask is like I said, mine does the same type deal...
thought it was from tune... but I could be wrong... in D 3rd gear..
if I am under 55 and let off the gas.. I get a nice few type backfires.. I have a few buddies who said they are not really backfires, its from the compression..????
****, I love the way mine sounds.. LOL... does the nice rumbling after the pops....

between 30 - 50 it will puddle down and give a few pops also.... not as loud as the higher MPH... I have also been looking at if its the exhaust setup...
but you have not changed that have you?? so that would delete that out of the equation.

Default Tune

Yeh you should have had this guy who has a shop in a closet do the tune. Hey Jody shouldn't you be doing stickers or something, and we will race anything you got anytime, lets see who can tune. Hey mario give us a call well put it back on the dyno and take care of it for you.

Okay fellow techers, I took the car to ARD for my tranny which exploded while racing and had them build a stage 3 with a stall. I am impressed with the results and obviously satisfied. I did not take it to them for the back firing but mentioned it to them. They did a courtesy tune and dyno to make the car run a bit stronger which it did. I did not pay them to cure the back firing I only noted here to try to narrow down the possibilities thats all.

We changed the plugs day before yesterday and it still backfires. I'm hoping to have it fixed within the next few days. Thanx khaos (I'm hoping the coil packs and wires does the check).

Start with the simplest things first.. Clean your MAF (with electronics cleaner) and filter. My car was running rich and popping on down shifts. Cleaned up the filter and MAF and its running alot better..

Hey Jody, last time I checked a built turbo supra with 6 speed runs better than a 15.0, or is your idea of performance making cars slower than they are stock? Captain crossthread, Ill send you a tap and die set over since you dont have one and have no idea how to use one. Your sig should say " no second club"

Default Three runs

Thats funny we ran the car 7 times at the lsx shootout, and I drive it around all the time. Shouldn't you be working instead of on the computer, maybe I should call your boss at fast signs and tell him your stealing time, oh I forgot you are a theif. Don't get me started about all the money and parts that were stolen from the shop back it the day that were ebayed. Go luck working on hondoos, and that other crap you work on. Anytime you want to race at the track, give us a call. Oh by the way good job on making a turbo supra go 14's in the quarter, nothing like slowing it down from stock with all those mods. You should get a tattoo on your forhead of a big L, so people can see you coming, ***.
