Default Anyone running the T-REX cam??

I was thinking about switching to this cam for the summer. I was debating about doing heads, but i am going to hold off because i plan on doing an FI buildup in the not so distant future. What kind of HP are you guys getting? what are your experiences with it?

I love it. PRC LS6 heads, milled .030, making 462/413. Lots of people using this cam with good results...

Oh yeah. It's close even with unmilled heads, I milled the heads, used 2.02 valves and an .045 Cometic gasket. Flycutting is not that hard to do. Well worth it in my opinoin.

Yeah the more i hear about the cam the more i like it.. on thunder racing's website they had a car with full exhaust, Ls6 manifold and the Trex and it made 451rwhp... thats impressive.... how is the streetability of the cam... with a tune how is it, say at stop lights? does it wnt to cut out on you? how long do you have to feather the gas when you start it up (i only do it for a few seconds with my current cam)... any and all info on it would be appreciated!

I don't drive it much but I would have no problem with it if I did.

I DD my T-rex. It is the best cam that I have used so far and I have gone through 3 cams before that. As far as street manners, it really is all in the tune. I have a bad *** tune in my car and I have no issues at all.

I have found another cam that is almost like the trex. http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm...in%20/%20Heads It is a custom grind from comp # S17 238/244 .605/.612 @110 as far as i understand, the higher the dur, the higher in the rpm band you will make power.?? And the more lobe overlap, the wider the power band..?? What do you guys think

the more overlap the narrower the powerband will be generally.

Numbers in my sig...not my car anymore, but thats what it did with 11000 miles on it, through a 9" with 4.10 gears. This was also a dynojet that consistantly reads 10% lower than any other dynojet.

agreed.... this cam is too big for a FI car. look into some FI cams b/c this is not really a good match at all for it. if you stay N/A though then yeah this cam is mean as hell

Totally off topic here but down where I used to live there was a kid with a trans am that was just cam only and he told me he had a trex cam in the car and he also had some kind of true duals. Now I have never heard a trans am sound more like a 6banger then this car did it sounded nothing like any cammed car I heard. I didnt even sound like a V8 for some reason. Well needless to say we did race from a dig and when he got around 4500rpm maybe or higher it sounded mean as hell and he walked me fairly easily but im mostly stock right now anyways but thats the first time I ever heard of the trex and he pronounced it t'rex like the dinosaur but it sounded terrible at idle and anything under like 4000rpm I dont know for a fact it was a trex but it sure pulled me very easily in the higher rpms but id say around 4500 it sounded mean as hell but still wasnt screaming but you could definetly tell it was cammed but anything under like 4500 sounded like a 6banger with no muffler. Il have to find out whats done to it this year for sure

Im the one who bought moeZ28's car and after you get used to driving it its very easy to drive. I don't dd it because i have another car, but I could. You can definitely feel the difference when it comes into its power band as well, kinda cool. I say go for it unless your going FI, then I would look for something else.
