Car running Poorly
Hey guys I have a 2002 Camaro SS. My car started running really bad about a month ago. It would run fine for a while and then would sputter and wouldnt accelerate until full throttle. At around 70mph it would run fine but slower speeds it would do this. Now the car runs about 1 mile just fine and then starts sputtering and shaking but will still go just wont accelerate until full throttle. Sounds like a 4 cylinder car on alcohol. There is a really strong smell of gas as well. Any help would be apreciated. I have changed the fuel filter..........

I will give that a try.......I dont have a tuner....went to autozone of course they are clueless. They said it was running rich. Figured that hence the strong gas smell.

could have got into some bad fuel too. I see you have some headers did you tune it after that? might be somthing to look into find a tuner and just say I have some headers and need a tune they shouldnt charge you the full price.

120,000 miles.....Im going to replace the wires and plugs. I thought it might be the fuel pump at first but that wouldnt make since due to the car running rich.

It's your O2 sensors. When you start the car, it runs Open loop until it warms up. Once warmed up, the O2's send your A/F totally out of whack and the car coughs, spits, sputters and ***** gas all over the place.
Could be a dirty MAF or plugs, but do yourself a favor, clean the MAF, check the plugs and wires, replacing if necessary and put new O2 sensors in the car. Should clear everything up nicely.

I've seen plenty of marginal or outright bad O2's not throwing a code. Also, considering he's got LT's, it's possible some of the codes might have already been deleted. Codes like the "Insufficient Switching" are often turned off when longtubes are installed because they cause problems at low RPMs.
