^^^^ Yes you are in almost ALL states, there are only a few exceptions. I work for an insurance company. To the others this is why you carry Uninsured motorist's coverage. And even though the other person may not have insurance, your insurance company is still required to fix your car.

By Texas law, you must have minimum liability insurance at 20/40/15 at all times when operating a vehicle.

$400 ticket the first time and the 2nd time they will arrest you and impound your car. I'd say it's a major offense.

I would like to see this made possible, I would also like to see HUUUUGE penalties put into place for hit and run. It's a really big problem as well

I think all the douchbags that do without the insurance suck, because they are the ones who will slam your car in the middle of the night, then take off...
That **** sucks... My car is garaged, but I have alot of friends this has happened to...
Plus they are the dumb *** drivers.. LOL

This would be a great tool to crack down on illegal immigrants too

Edit: On the downside, guess who pays for the new work involved in implementing this system? Yep, we do.

Sorry guys but you are wrong, in Texas you are not required by law to carry insurance. you can look it up for yourselves if you want.

Since you have the burden of proof, why don't YOU look it up and find out where it says you DON'T have to have it.

My parents and my wife have been in the insurance industry a COMBINED 50 years....trust me.....

20/40/15 is REQUIRED at ALL times.

If you really think you don't, then how did you get your Texas driving license? When you must show proof of insurnace get get your license?

Or register your car, proof is required there as well.

But:

since you think it's not required...follow the link below:

^^^ There are a few states that do not require any liability insurance, I know tennessee doesn't, unless thats changed. Alabama doesn't either. But it does change every year. And if that is true about Texas then so be it... you should still carry it.

Where the hell have you been living? Texas has required liability for as long as I've been driving & that's going on 20 years.
