I think Joe Honeycutt (Six Speeds Inc owner) put it best: REAL RACE CARS HAVE THREE PEDALS

TAWS6M6, hate you didn't get to run tonight. I was glad to see a **** load of F-bodies there though. I don't know where all the NBM ones came from. I'm usually the only one.

They also have a 6spd car that runs 8.90's. I have to make a descent 60ft before i can run again, otherwise i'll get some more of these "all that cam for nothing" posts. Eh, with the new tune and the same 60ft i might have squeezed a 12.5 outta it. I'll be back, probably with the tires chris recommended me. Maybe that'll quite down the haters

Yeah, I think I watched that vid almost everyday there after they first made the run. His vid on their old website is what made me use them to rebuild mine. Been happy ever since.

My best 60 ft is in sig I average a 1.70 on motor if I am having worst than 1.73's the track I am running at needs work. I am a old school manual guy that is why I don't have a six speed car I would tear to much stuff up. With a manual its no fun when you have to leave lower than 6000 rpms and let off gas to shift. As far as run the number back to back both a manual and auto can do it has a lot do do with the driver more so with manual. I have seen Chris run a number back to back to back with no problem. Would love to row the gears in a pro stock style clutchless liberty 5 speed.

Greg's car is probably one of the most impressive cars in our group when you figure his mods vs race weight. For you guys who haven't been in the LSX cars long, Greg's setup is one of the original style cam only setups that still proves to work very well without going crazy on camshaft selection. Lol, I remember when the old B1 was a monster cam.

I dont get it. Its half want an auto and half want a 6spd.
read this.

A. Manual 6-Speed (M6)

First, let me congratulate you on buying the stronger of the two stock transmissions. With minimal changes, this tranny in near-stock form has been deep into the tens. And in built form, it has propelled an F-body to mid-9-second glory. Now for the bad news. You also possess the single most part-destuctive force known to civilized man. FACT. M6 cars break more **** in the drivetrain then most A4 boys ever dream about. To avoid this (as best we can), we are going to talk about parts that are made ultra-tough, just to stand in defiance to this cruel tyrant called the M6 tranny.

Part II: Drivetrain

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

B. Automatic 4-Speed (A4)

Welcome to the wonderful world of the 4L60E transmission. Let me be the first to congratulate you on entering the world of the broken trans. The 4L60E is not the cruel tyrant on drivetrain parts that its M6 brother is. It is most definitely MUCH more parts-friendly. Too parts-friendly. So friendly, in fact, that it will break itself before it will break other parts. How noble... The problem is that it does this far too often, and even in full built form, this transmission is just NOT very good for real drag racing.

Telling me an auto is better is like me trying to tell you how to weld. Or better yet, like the 12 yr old telling the 26 yr old how to eat *****. You sure know alot about something you have never done. Who are you trying to convince with that post me or you? Since your stalled auto cuts 1.5's, i am assuming your calling me out?

^^Do I smell a challenge? Mod for Mod I'll take my M6 any day. Like Greg mentioned earlier, I've also seen Cainsw cut the same times over and over and over. Though I'm not as fast I also cut the same times within a tenth over and over. So I think us with our M6's are just as consistent as an auto.

Do we need an auto vs M6 day at the track? I think we do. Although most of time we do, but just don't realize it.

taws6m6, do you remember the red ss 6spd running 10.3's consistently friday night? and the red ss auto that was running high 10's somewhere in 10.7-10.9 range? I'll be at the track friday after next as will many other's on here so we all should get together that night and have some friendly grudge matches.

Mod for mod I'll take the m6 but somewhere around the 10's it definitely gets easier to be an auto guy. The faster you go the harder the 6 speed cars get to handle.

As far as consistency goes, it's all about your setup. It takes a ton of practice but a good 6 speed guy should usually run within .03-.04 as long as the track is good. You want to see how consistent or good you really are with either setup you need to look at all of your split times, 60ft-330ft, 330-660, 660-1000 and 1000-1320 this will tell you how good you really are because they only change just a couple hundredths from the very best to the worst weather. This also will help you 6 speed guys find out where you need to work on your shifting

tell you what chris...lets do apples to apples. i get a cam and tires bout the same as yours or i get the cam and we both stay on street tires....sound fair? i would take that race any day of the week. btw i have NO traction anywhere in first so a roll from a dig i would prolly lose to a slower car everytime. my car actually got slower from a dig with this stall bc it is harder to know when the power will be applied and hits alot harder when it does kick in. with the stock stall it hit easier and was more predictable.

You talking to me or the other Chris? I'll run your a4 mod for mod tire for tire. I'm not scared I can make it run either way you want to go. Want to have a street tire grudge race at the track one night? I'm game.

My car was running high 11.4x's with bottom 1.6x 60's a while back and I swapped over to my old cheap Pep Boys 295/50/15 street tires and run back to back 11.85's both passes had 1.87 60's. That was my first street tire runs in about the last 3-4 years. Wanna play

I totally agree with chris. Autos are good for going really ******* fast. But i dont ever plan on goin faster than a 10 anyway, and i am along way from it. Sooner or later i am buying another one, and have one just for track only. Yeah, i did bust out the sticky, it came from moderators, not biased opinions. I guess were i fucked up was goin to the track when the car wasnt even ready for it. I left myself open for attacks like that. I just went for a good time and to play. Yeah blue, i saw the red camaro. Looked like he almost pulled a tire up on the 1-2 shift on one of his runs. Mine is usually pretty consistent. Last time out it wasnt, i just spun out of the hole, and stayed in it as long as it was straight hoping the dr's would kick in.

On streets my car has no traction in 1st or 2nd. You said your car would run 12.5's and 1.5 60's. So, sounds like a pretty fair race the way things are now

i was talking to the chris that says i called him out even though he has cam tires and gears over me.....doesn't sound like too fair of a race does it? a race as biased as that wouldn't even be considered noteworthy. i have run a very similar race against hilton and he left me like i was standing still. it was still fun though....i caught him eventually.(after he let off for about 5 minutes)
