Alright, so I've been wanting to do plugs in my car for awhile, and I decided a few months back to pull one and see how it looked and what was in it. Much to my dismay, it was a SplitFire (don't remember P#). HOWEVER they looked great, and didn't seem to be running bad. They weren't white (lean), but they were the light tan-ish. Then again, I only pulled one, so who knows. I also get some Pre-Ig in the upper Rs sometimes, but not all the time. I think the atmosphere at the time plays some role in that. Sig is correct, save for the fact the 58mm isn't installed yet (still heh).

Anyways, I guess the point of this thread is: Since they seem to be running alright, should I just leave them, or go with the TR55s? I worked in a parts store for 2.5yrs and I remember everyone saying how bad SF plugs were, as well as how the Bosch +2 and +4s were essentially a joke.

Bash away, since I didn't install these plugs (clearly) heh.

I've had SF and Bosch plugs in my LT1, didn't like either....I now have NGK TR55s.

Guess I'm just curious if there's any potential by going with a different plug, almost regardless of brand (other than something like KMart specials heh).

ive heard of people having problems with the bosch plugs. i dont have any first hand experience with them, but if your car runs and you dont notice any hesitation, id let em alone. next time, switch to the tr-55's

There's nothing wrong with stock, AC-Delco replacements. That's what I use on my '97Z, '99T/A and they work great. Get those split fires outta' there...

There wasn't a FIRST time for me, so when I do finally do them, I will be.


Other than going to the dealer, I've found it semi-hard to get AC plugs around me. When I worked at Checker Auto (Shucks, Kragen same store) they stopped carrying AC plugs, and I don't remember if I can get them from NAPA or not. There's always Car Quest and Red Rooster, but I haven't checked either.

I have tried nearly every type of plug out on the market in my LT1, except for those $10 plugs (I forget the name of them; rediculously expensive). They've all worked just fine for me, but eventually I just went back to the TR55's because they're cheap and reliable.
