Default spec'd my own cam...what do you think

i spec'd a cam and talked to TR to fine tune it and here is what we came up with. 231/238 .617/.605 113+2 lsa

this will be going on with a set of incredibly ported 5.3 heads

hoping to put down 470+ with a good tune

I would never do it myself. Nothing personal! I'd tell someone who specializes in that exactly what I'm using the car for and how I want it to run and let them spec it out for me.

Why does it have 2 degrees of advance ground into it?? If you are hoping for 470rwhp I would go with a better head also, i.e. 243's, AFR 205's, TFS 215's. Just porting a 5.3 head isn't enough to make a cam of that size work.

470 RWHP is highly unliklely on without a power adder. Youll need a bunch of supporting mods. EWP, 90/90, etc.

Why not, we have made 460s with camhsaft of that size and 5.3s. itll have to be a very good combo of parts but COULD do it. Could and did always are very diff things though I guess Good luck with it

thanks a lot...the guy porting my heads is a madman...he designed the ford 3 valve heads...and ports le mans car heads as his regular job...he just happens to be a good friend of mine. so the heads flow will be amazing, and as for the cam i came up with those numbers and talked to Jeff at Thunder Racing and he fine tuned them, and he said that this cam will be a highway killer. viscious mid range and top end and still have some punch down below. and since the car almost never sees the track and is almost always raced form a 40 roll(because all the guys down here with their viper and ford gt's etc. are ****** and wont run from a dig) it should be exactly what i need.

I like it, they only thing I would have changed is LDA, and ICL. 112/109. 470+hp will need 90/90 ported and a killer tune. Good luck with it firefight.

i made 452/395 through a 9" with my 231/237 .589/.595 112, ported-by-me FAST90, and RC Stg. 2.5 5.3 heads.....

...470 with a M6 wouldn't be too unreasonable. depends on the tune, depends on the dyno, and the rest of the setup.

good luck
