Shifter Wines
I just put in a pro 5.0 shifter in my ta and its awesome. Only problem is its kinda noisy.
I was wondering if I could stuff my console with a fire resistant insulation to quiet down the wine. Or if there are any other tricks to quiet it down.
Thanks
Bye the way, using a bronze bushing instead of a plastic one is a waste of money, $35. It sounds like there is a muffler in the car, so I pulled it out and put the plastic one back in.

Mine is pretty damn quiet. I was expecting it to be noisy from what everyone had said but it's really no louder than my stock shifter. did you put the rubber shifter boot back on when you installed it?

Yeah I put it back on. I even used the supplied template to cut it to the right size. I have to drive 3.5 hours home from college every month and rattles and wines drive me crazy!
But I'm already used to it, I'll just leave it alone.
BTW- I cant down shift from sixth to fifth, I have to go to fourth and then to fifth, is that normal?

Mine doesn't have any problems shifting like that, maybe your's makes so much noise because you cut the boot with that template. I didn't cut the boot on mine I just muscled it over so the only thing that is exposed are the bolts that hold the shifter handle. Maybe leaving the boot alone is the key to a quiet Pro 5.0

theres a guy on ebay that sells a thin gasket for between the shifter and the trans instead of using rtv sealant..and apparently they are designed to keep the noise and vibrations down..i havent used one though so i dunno if it works or if its worth it

Problem fixed, no more wine. (don't need any cheese!)
Forced the smaller of the two factory shift boot over the pro 5.0's snout and stuffed the console with some insulation.
It's as quiet as the factory one.
