Default water temp guage install

Hey guys, I am gonna be installing a water temp guage in my a/c vent and use a SPDT switch to switch between water temp(engine) and trans temp. I am confused as to how to hook up the water temp sensor for the engine coolant. Do I have to use the pass. side head and the sender, or can I splice into a wire to get a signal? Thanks in advance! Appreciate it. BTW, it is a 1998 TA.

Default Re: water temp guage install

you need to use a different temp sensor for the gauge (one that is designed for that gauge). if you tap into the factory sensor, it will mess up the signal to the computer and your new gauge won't get the right temp either.
