Took my 02 SS A4 to the track last night
First time out went 13.40's @ 105ish BONE STOCK in about 95 degree weather.
This time it's winter, about 40* at the track and I've got better tires (nitto 555r's), SLP lid / smooth bellow, and an SLP LM1 muffler, also the car is lowered. Car on the street DEAD HOOKS off the foot brake. Figure I should be dipping into the 12's.
First pass had a problem, car wouldn't go over 70mph. aborted the run about half track and coasted to a 15.9 @ 68 mph! woo woo. My slowest pass ever (so far).
Second pass was fine until second gear again, ran HARD through second until about 5000rpm, then stuttered, and then kept running out hard. 14.0 @ 99 mph
let the car cool down, checked the fluids, everything looked and smelled fine.
Got back in line, thought maybe it was from turning the car on and off so much so I just left it on and idled my way through the lanes. Never had a problem with the car being on a long time and making a pass on the street.
Did my burnout, got on the brake and it started to break up. Left slow and it broke up big time through 1st. Let off and coasted to a BLISTERING 22 @ 45. no joke.
Guy at the time slip booth asked me if this was my first time to the track I've been drag racing for like 6 years and NEVER had a problem like this at the track.
So I pull off and the car dies. Turns right back on and I drive it to the pits so it can cool down before I make the 40 mile drive home.
BARELY made it home, car was misfiring like hell and acting like a jackass the whole way there.
Finally got around to looking at it today, started the car up and it sounded like it had a camshaft in it. Actually sounded pretty good for a minute but of course it doesn't so I had to just shut it off. Pulled a plug and the white part (i for some reason don't know how to spell porcelin sp) is cracked in a u-shape. Great.
So I just threw everything on the windshield and went back inside. I'll deal with it when **** is open.
Guess I'll post up some REAL results next saturday assuming I'm not working.
Worst. Track. Experience. Ever.
At least it wasn't something major.

Glad it was minor, I had a very bad experience like that except I was about 100 miles from home. My maf plug the rubber piece that keeps it stable had fell off and it took me weeks of the car running awful to figure it out.

Good luck getting her fixed up. There's nothing worse than going to the track with high expectations and then running into problems the whole time. You'll get your 12's next time!

I couldn't even tell you guys what happened. It baffles me still even though it only took plugs and wires to fix.
I have no idea what caused it to happen, but the plug was bad, the others had very small hairline cracks and I haven't even checked the wires.
But the car runs strong now. My friend is coming into town this week and I will be out drinking so no racing - but next week I hope to post up my 12 sec slips!

My car did the same thing tonight. I just installed my TB after having it ported by New Era, and everything seemed great.
At the track it did okay until the last run, where it gave up before the 1/8th mark and wouldn't go past about 60mph. My brother limped it back to the pits and shut her down. After turning it back on it was fine..
Kinda spooks me
