wouldn't be your tranny, probably the y-pipe where it hangs the lowest (the squished part on the driver's side).

i'm lowered and that happens to me too. all the time. just regular street driving and ill drive over a small pot hole or something i can't see beforehand and i'll here a loud, deep "thump." it's not scraping. don't think it's the y-pipe and definitely not the air dam. it sounds like maybe the rear after market springs/shocks just aren't long enough anymore so they run out of room.... i don't know a lot about cars and i could definitely be wrong so if i am it's my mistake.

That would be your bumpstops. What springs/shocks do you have?

maybe that doesn't sound quite as bad.

If the bump stops haven't been cut, they will usually hit. Next time you have the rear tire off check the rear axle for a clean spot on the flat part where the bump stops meet.

I have a DS loop in my car which has a lower provision for true duals. I once in a blue moon with people in the car AND very high speed bumps will hit that part. The majority of the time I will simply scrape the driver's side cat off the speed bump if I take it a little too quick.
