Koni installation woes.

Koni installation woes.
I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this install.
The rears were a breeze. I believe I finished both in about 2 hours.
I installed the front passenger side shock and and now I'm getting a sound coming from the passenger side. It occurs when I hit bumps in the road, or when the body of the car moving through turns sort of. Kind of like a clunking, mixed with a sound you hear when metals scrap each other..
After reading some of the threads in the forum history about problems with install, I'm actually scared to further take it for a drive as I'm scared to blow out the shock. I pulled the wheel, and went to retighten all the bolts and everything that I had to disconnect. Everything seemed normal, other than the fact that my Koni looks like it's been on my car for 100,000 miles.

I had a problem with the getting the bolts at the bottom to line up when I had the shock mounted to the LCA. If I tried the opposite way, the bottom wouldn't line up. So I ended up banging till it went into place. Hopefully I didn't damage anything.
On top of that, the guy at pep boys was a total dick, and wouldn't install shocks on the spring so that the window was facing outward..
And to think, I actually lucked out and didn't get a nut that was rusted away..

how was the big rubber boot on top of the shock? the reason i ask is that mine was really hard to get off of the old shock. I finally got it off but ended up damaging it a little bit. Well when i put it back on with the new shock-spring it made the same noises you describe. Well i ended up having to replace the boot and the sounds went away.

What part is the boot?
I don't remember using anything from the stock shocks. I took the Koni as it looks

It could be the nut at the top of the shock pictured here. http://www.ls1howto.com/howto/fbody/...s/IMAGE017.jpg If it's not tight it will definitely make some noise. Also pictured is the boot nick1ta was talking about.
