K-member, V8 engine, V8 trans., PCM matching whatever you are running.

It depends on the year of his car, the options it has, etc... I'd say find a good installer that has done it before and that can do wiring and tuning and let them do it.. Thats the route I took and it turned out great.

But to basically answer your question.. K memeber, front springs, engine mounts, engine, tranny, computer, ac lines, different fuel pump or some custom plumbing with a different fuel filter, headers, intake, and then a bunch of odds and ends..

Also, if your friend is going to dump all this money into it, why doesn't he just go ahead and try and find a decently cheap LS1 to put in instead of the LT?

You can make some pretty sick engine combinations with either. I chose the LT1 because I thought it sounded mean as hell and the body style looks killer as well. I dont see why everyone bashes it so much it isnt slow by any means. I could see switching to the LS1 if I were a serious racer. But I doubt I ever will be, so in the mean time I'll drive around my modded LT1, be happy, and play the role of the underdog.

mods are cheaper for lt1. gas millage is better (i Believe) and id rather mod an iron block then a aluminom block. but stock for stock ls1 is better

To each his own.. I say if you already have a LT1 laying around or can get it stupid cheap then go for it.. I've seen some really impressive numbers out of LT1's.

LT1 ALL the way baby! Cheap to buy, Cheap to Build, and still put down VERY impressive #'s for half the cost of an LS1.
LS1's are way too over-rated, Too high, to much to mod, and have a tendency to pop under nitrous too easily. And it's usually the # 7 Cylinder that goes first. If you want an LS? based engine go with at least the 6.0L LS motor My .02 though!

Keep us updated if he goes through with the swap....

Yea if it acts like it wants to fire but after a loooong time of cranking (10-20seconds) you finally decide to stop and then it acts like it wants to turn over then it's probably the cam or crank sensor...

My car had similar issues but would start every now and then and it was the cam sensor..
