Default what makes a ws6 ta a ws6?

Im curious to know what is the difference between a regular TA and the WS6 TAs (98-02)? Is it just the ram air hood? Something to do with suspension? TCS? I know SLP did some performance work, like exhaust and air intake, right? I just want to know what makes a ws6, a ws6, besides the hood and badges.

Also, how to check and see if its a real WS6. I've heard of checking for the RPO sticker on the driver's door. Is that true? Is there any other way to check? Anything obvious in the VIN?

SLP worked over the Firehawks. There are a few differences. VERY generalized, there was suspension work, ram air, wheels, hood, gearing and badging. If you haven't searched about it, then do so. You'll find PLENTY of information.

SLP Did the Firehawks, but SLP also did the WS6's for awhile. I'm confused on the years now. I think it was after 99. Or it was before 99 :S ACS did them for awhile. Someone will clear it up. SLP did the ram air Grand Prix too

`96-7 WS6's were done by SLP aswell as all years of SS's and Firehawks.
ASC did the hoods for the `98-02 WS6's
The RPO code is the only way to identify a true WS6.

hmm i didn't know that. what exactly did SLP do to those years? i never see any SLP badging on them, unlike the Firehawks.

A4s came with 3.23s, M6s came with 3.42, Less restrictive exhaust, 17" rims, Front sway bar is like 2mm larger than reg. t/a, ram air hood, ttops(came standard), rear ws6 badge. I think that covers everything. TCS was still a option as well as the 12 Disc CD changer. Every other option is standard on a WS6

basically... a true WS6 is still cooler, and something to be proud of... but it's not a different car. the difference between an SS camaro and a Z28 is significant IMO... not the case with the WS6 cars.

i say this of course as i polish my new WS6 badge, and wait for my hood to be painted as i stare at my decals.

i make no false claims.. i wanted a WS6. i looked hard.. i test drove, and then i found my car. it was in such great aesthetic condition, and was so clean i could not pass it up.

i decided it was easier to add a hood and badge, than to spend way more or get a beater.

the fact is i wanted wider wheels than the WS6 cars have anyway.

now.. a firehawk... that's a difference.

I don't know about 4th Gen, but in 3rd Gen, WS6 was a suspension upgrade, just below 1LE (Which was transfered over to 4th gen). WS6 didn't come back till 96 though. I thought mine was WS6 for awhile, but the faded, have gone, RPO letter was W56 heh

See I still think if you're going to end up modding your car more than mildly... just getting a base Trans am/Formula/Z28 is a smarter choice rather than a Firehawk/SS or WS.6. I mean you'd end up replacing most/all of those parts you paid extra for anyways rather than you would with the V8 F-body without a performance package on it. That was the reason I didn't want a WS.6 or Firehawk... I found my 00' TA for $9000... most WS.6's around here are no less than $12K (most are like $15K)... $3K is a lot of money to play around with for mods if you so choose to lol.
