Default How To Fix Faulty OEM Security Sytem?

So I'm looking into a car that had the security system fail and locked the owner out. Guess it was eventually taken in for service but instead of fixing it, the system was just bypassed and now the "security" light stays on but the system doesn't work... because I suppose the PCM/security sensor is looking for the system? Any possible way to bypass the system and remove the security light as well? How extensive can this get? Is it a common problem?

is the origanal pill in the key? If it is, take an ohm meter, read the resistance off it, go buy a resister that matches the one in your key and wire it in, i think it is the little yellow wire from the bcm to the ignition.

so your saying that's its just a problem of the two resistors having a problem matching to throw the security system off? is this a common problem?

check your key cylinder, the skid plates that the resistors contact could be dirty too or scuffed beyond belief.
