Question Exhaust MOD>???

hey guys i had a idea the other night (when i was drunk) tell me what you think,... liek a month ago i did a muffler delete and ya know just welded up new pipe right.. well i was thinking being that the pipes come 3inch from engine to middle of car then to liek 2 1/4 out the tail... would it be advised to swap out the 2 1/4 to 3inch with no mufflers? tryin to get it to sound better ya know.. cause running it with the 3inch to 2 1/4 has back pressure like a ****.. what ya think??? and yeah i know just buy an exhaust.. i work at an exhaust shop so yea tryin to save a couple bucks..

it will probably sound crappy, also if your bonestock you'll probably lose some power too.

Sorry man, but a muffler delete is the most redneck thing you can do to a nice car.

Now have a custom stainless steel 3" catback made with either spintech or magnaflows. Depending on how loud you want it.

You could try to copy the corsa design and save some weight while you're at it.

I agree w/Sicko. I've run the Gamit w/the cheap easy "frankenstein" exhaust and have found just spending the money and doing it right once is the only way to go. If you like loud and exotic, try Corsa. If the sport's too loud, run w/the Touring and never look back.... Plus you never stated whether your car is an '04 or '05-'06.... Two totally different exhaust setups. I know for a fact on the '04 it's 2 1/4" pipe the whole way. On the '05-'06 I believe it's 2 1/2" for the mids....

No mufflers sounds like crap. 3" with no mufflers sounds even worse. You're not making a lot of power or running any forced induction, you have no need for 3".

Weld on a h-pipe,some Borla XR1's and be happy.

Agreed... No real need for 3" unless your running a setup similar to the Corsa on the '04 where it Y's into one big 3" to the bumper.

true,
dual 3's isn't needed til you;re well over 600hp
(and at that point, you're gonna be at the level to need lots more than just exhaust)

I've got over 500rwhp (close to 600hp)
and am quite confident that my exhaust isn't limmiting me

Anyone do true duals with Z06 titanium mufflers? I have a procharged CTS-V and put them on and really like them. Here is a video from an autocross and a mock up picture as I attached them right behind the cats.

I would definately run 3' all the way if you are insisting on having straight piped exhaust. Otherwise I would throw a magnaflow, corsa, whatever on there and have a nice legal sound.
