Default 5.3 tach output signal

setup-

2003? 5.3 lm7 going into a 81 swb chevy truck.

This will be a carbed setup and i bought the motor complete from truck intake to oilpan BUT WITH NO WIRING HARNESS.

question is-

where do i tap into for my tach signal? I want to run an aftermarket tach. Also, one of the wires i need to hook up for the MSD 6010 is a tach signal.

i'd assume i could get one off of the coil pack but which cylinder and what color?

yes i tried searching.

help!

the tach signal wire from the 6010 is a tach signal output, not input and will run your aftermarket tach. just hook the box up to your cam, crank, map sensors, hook up your coils, hook up the 12v and it should fire right up.

you know what... i slept on this problem and figured that the 6010--once it's all hooked up--should not need a tach input and that the wire is actually an output.

you confirmed my thoughts!

thanks so much.
