If your not taking your car to the track? Hell,I'm not even street racing,but what does it do for everyday driving nothing unless your WOT ? I just got 3:73's installed in my 99 Trans am and picking it up tomorrow.. Is there any benefit to having a stall in a street only car?

Ok,that's what I thought..Ty...so many people on here just assume we are all on here to race..A lot aren't.. But I think going from 2:73's to 3:73's is going to be super fun..

Well if you are still wanting enough extra performance to change out gears than maybe a small stall would still be enjoyable...? If you have ever driven a stalled auto, you will want one....course that leads to tires.....and tires lead to suspension....and suspension leads to X...Yea...maybe more of us should stay stock...

That's the thing,I haven't driven one..what would a small stall do..I really don't know much about them or how they feel when driven..I've read the stall Q@A. But ,it doesn't let you feel what it does..

you dont have to race a car to have a fun stall eather IMO, I dont know, but from ALOT of people on here thats one on the first mods on there A4 car and would never turn back. If I wasnt doing an M6 swap I would Diff go with a good stall 2800-3200

A PI 2800 or a Yank 3200 (other converter sponsers on here I'm sure have something similar also). Anyway, a true stall of 3200 flash would make that car fill alot better from a roll and help out that dead spot ls1's have with the too tight stock converter. Hell, you might even pick up a little power over that stock thing. A little extra fun for stock car for sure...

Check back in a few months when your used to extra rush of the gears and wish you had a little more....

i would say the gears between the 2 especially if you got 2.73.. but honestly, u should consider doing the 3.73 and a stall!! you will definitely like the combination of both..

We have 2 options I would suggest. The first is a 2800-3000 11" converter. It is great for a DD that is only street driven - $350. Second option is a 3200 "2C" 9.5" billet converter. More performance oriented, but still a good choice for a street driven car. Tech price - $700. The 9.5" is also 15lbs lighter, so the motor has better throttle response.

I had a 3600 stall with 2.73's and the car was a blast and the stall made it a completely different car. Car went from a lazy launch to blazing fast. Heck before the stall I could barley spin the tires on a hot day. With the stall I could incerinate them. I went 12.7's with just the 3600 stall, Lid, cat back, and sticky tires. I now have 3.73's and its even better and yes I still daily drive the car in all weather. Even snow.. lol.

Same here I had to drive mine this winter and I live in the U.P. But anyways back to the subject, for me I went with a huge (4000) stall because I don't want to buy headers, cam etc. to go fast (although it would be nice). With 3.73's, a stall and a catback I get everything I want - nice sound w/some speed.

With a stall you don't have to go WOT to blow people away (or the tires for that matter). Also you shed a good 30lbs, which isn't much but its a little side benefit.

The benefit is the same as adding gears; torque multiplication throughout the operating range. You will retain hwy mpg and in addition a stall will remove the common dead spot these cars have when hitting WOT from about 35 mph. IMO the benefits of adding even a small stall far outweigh just adding gears. I ran a 3200 with a bolt on car and it was a blast to drive on the street. You will especially like hitting WOT when cruising a hwy speeds.

That's awesome! Posts like this make me REALLY want to do this to mine. I have 2.73's and I hate them with a passion! The mpg is nice, but the car feels so lazy. I drove my company's work truck for the first time the other day (GMC 3/4 ton, 6.0L, 4:10's), and the thing felt quicker off the line than my Formula!

I had 2.73's in my 99 TA and with my 3000 stall, it was great and the mileage to, with my 02 with the same stall and most bolt on's the same, these 3.23's are pepper but my mileage sucks in comparason, and with gas going up, I would rather have the 2.73's.

BTW, in the 99 I had first a 3600 stall and it was to much for a street car, you could tell something had been added and I like a sleeper car and with the 3000, it drives pretty much like stock, till you step on the pedal.

Yeah, thanks, it does. That's what I was thinking, getting one in the 3000-3200 rpm range would probably be my best bet for driveablility. I need to keep it streetable, I drive it 60 miles a day.
