air pump replacement?
How easy/hard is it to replace the air pump? Mine needs to be replaced for smog, as well as the solenoid hoses, filter, and check valves. This is what the dealership told me.
I see I can get most this stuff off ebay for a much better price then the dealer, and its all new!
just curious on the work involved. could I do it at home in a day? I dont even know where the thing is located, its not belt driven like the POS on my IROC was. ( I ditched that thing long time ago)

Why can't he just keep all hardware intact but just delete the AIR system from the computer. Since it only works while the car is first started I would assume that by the time he got to the inspection station the AIR system wouldn't even be running anyway because the car is at normal operating temp.

Not to be argumentative but so did mine until I had it programmed out. No more CEL and all items are still on the car. If they do check then how do they check for this? My *** was tight the first time I took my car in for inspection after my computer was "tweaked" but it passed with flying colors, just as the computer tweaking company told me it would do.

I had all my air pump codes blocked/turned off with ls1edit.
It passed an obddii plug in test after starting the car and letting it warm up for a few minutes and then driving it to the station. The car sat for a week before that. I was afraid it might not "be ready" per the codes but it passed.
It is still working for now but it makes strange noises every now and then so i decided to just program it out.
