Default Just got my Camaro back from the paint shop!

Just got it back yesterday.

I put 2 coats of wax on it, and sprayed that "ICE" detail spray on it after the waxing as well.

How does it look?

It looks nice!

Hate to tell you this though, but you aren't supposed to wax after fresh paint for like a month to let the paint cure properly....

The painter said it was alright. He heated it or something like that.

I made sure of it to ask.

oh boy!!! hope the clear doesent pop. you should strip that wax off right away, and that ice detail spray most likely is silicone based. thats another big no no. when paint is applied there are solvents in the paint that are use to make it sprayable and activate the clear, as the paint cures the solvents will rise out of the paint and eveaporate, if you wax the car or put some kind of barrier on it you will trap them in the paint and they can "pop" the clear coat

just because they baked it does not mean its cured, if he said its alright then that means if something bad happens he will have to fix it. Im very suprised he said it would be ok

hmm... i'm kinda pissed that the painter told me I could wax it though, I'm going to definatly strip the wax off it tommrow. Would the dish soap do any damage to the clear coat?

No the soap wont hurt the finish... I painted cars for 3 years... and I WOULD!!! NEVER!!! tell someone its ok to wax till about 30-60 days... I would recommend 60 to be safe... but 30 is fine... STRIP IT OFF NOW!!!!

dish soap is perfect. its slightly basic, which works great for stripping off wax.

car does look good though.

Was it a total repaint? If so they should have painted the top black and the headlight buckets again also.

OMG I hope you didn't cause damage. Well in a few weeks when your paint is bubbling take it back to that guy and tell him to fix it

Also, why did you get black mirrors, but not a black top?
