Default extending duals under-axle

I intend to get this process done soon, seeing as how my county will not allow me to pass an inspection anymore and how i just don't like smelling gas 24/7.
Just for peace of mind,

If i put 2 high flow cats on my TSP duals, will it muffle the sound significantly?

Around how much HP will i lose?(rough estimate)

And how much do you think it will cost? (Welding 2 cats after cutting pipe, extend the piping under the axle out to the rear)

also, what tips do you guys recommend?

I like the dual tips on a TA because it fills the gaps in the rear bumper. I have the SLP dual tips on mine. You can see them in my video in my signature

Just went out and looked, they are 2.5" Tips, the piping i'd get would be 3" to coincide with my 3" TSP pipes... could they somehow fabricate those tips to work

No don't have any cats. A muffler shop should be able to expand them enough to slip over the tailpipes. May be kinda thin after they expand them but I would think they could do it. Just have to ask them

I had cats installed on my TSP duals when I had my 99 Z28 (I think it cost like $75 + cost of the cats) and didn't like it at all. It took away some of the deep throaty sound of it. If I was you, I would have them ran out the back and see how you like the sound with it like that, and if you still want it quieter get the cats put on. Running mine out the back gave it a more "refined" tone but still has the deep sound to it.

like tylerdj said, out back first, then figure out if you want the cats or not. I have bullets w/ mine and out under axle and love it!

That is exactly what i had in mind for the color scheme once i get the money. It looks sick, thanks for all the responses fellas

Really the only true reason i want cats is to pass inspection, i seem to have trouble here in midland i failed and my vin number was entered into a computer... ******* thing is, i didnt tell him to inspect my car when i took it there, i was having my tires balanced... next second i see him crawling to the computer and handing me a failed inspection. So i can't take it anywhere local that is on the same network as the state. Anyone in Midland or near midland/odessa know where to get one. I'm moving to Denton /DFW soon, so that's a possibility too
