Some questions after starting 5.3 for the 1st time
Hey all,
I have been swapping a 5.3 into my 79 Jeep Cherokee. I used a 2005 harness and underhood fuseblock. Before I sent the ECM off to be flashed, the motor would turnover using the start circuit through the ECM. After being flashed, it wouldn't crank. Does this have something to do with turning off the VATS system? We bypassed the ECM start circuit and it turned over and started fine.
Also, the 15 amp ETC/ECM fuse blows everytime the ECM is powered up. Any ideas on this? I am using the drive by wire setup. Is it possible my TAC is bad? DId they switch them from one year to the next? Not sure what year this one is from.
Lastly. The rockers are pretty noisy. The motor has oil pressure according to the stock gauge but they are pretty noisy. I had pulled the motor appart when I first got it and everything looked good. No collapsed lifters or anything. Does it take a while for these lifters to pump up? At this point, the motor has run for less than 1 min.
Thanks for the help!
