Default dual voice coil confusion.

Ok so i just got my 1999 WS6 and the two subs in the sail panels were blown so i replaced them with two kicker 6.5" shallow mount subs. And at first i connected just the long wires from the factory subs as i read to do but they didn't sound all that great, then i connected all for wires (the two reds and the two blacks) and they sounded much better this is confusing to me because the kicker subs are not dual voice coil subs. So my question is will it hurt them to keep all four wires hooked up to each them?

Thanks
Chris

You only have to hook up 2 wires, the + and the -

But you have to make sure you hook up the - wire to the - on the speaker, and the + wire to the + side on the speaker. If you hook them up reverse polarity it won't sound good.

Thanks.

I have the negatives and the positives hooked up to the right places but i just have two negatives to the negative hook up and two positives to the positive hook ups is this bad? Cause it sounds good.

No i didn't run extra wires i just used the factory harness from the old speakers which had 4 wire hooking up to each of them two - and two + so i just hooked both + to the positive hookup and two negative to the negative hook up on each sub.

yeah they sound great! They really hit hard for how tiny they are. So its cool that even though my new subs are not dual voice coil subs like the stock ones to hook all 4 of them up?

Thanks again

You could do that, but it might not play very loud.

Do you think that they sound better than the eu-700 or the bazooka duel voice coil speakers? Because I can get a pair of the kickers for 100 but I was worryed that they would not sound as good as a duel voice coil speaker.

The only problem is that I think you risk frying your amp with that configuration. It'll probably sound really good till you have problems. You may not have any problems, though. Only time will tell.
