Default Yella Terra UltraLite 1.7 RR-Sponsors Please

Are these available in an adjustable form? If so, do you have any sets available/price. PM me if necessary.

I've read the thread of YT Vs. HS, I was going to get HS, but I think I would like the YTs better. I am attempting to

A.)Replace stock rockers
B.)Quiet valvetrain noise by adjusting the gap. (I have custom milled heads, in the .045X range w/ 7.4 Comp hardened PRs)

Thanks.

-John.

They are heavier and you may need more spring, why not non-adjustables and set wipe and pushrod length correctly?

Is there a procedure for doing this? I bought the H/C package from someone who had it installed professionally and he told me stock length (7.4") were used. The springs were rated to run at a minimum of .591/.601 lift, but I opted for a smaller .581/.588 cam instead.

The noise sounds like an old Gen I hydraulic cam that needs about 2 rounds or so turned down.

Here is how to set the wipe, I did it on the workbench but it can also be done on the car: Wipe

Here is how to measure pushrod length once you have the wipe set up: Using an Adjustable Pushrod

Thanks for the information everyone.

On the adj pushrod tutorial, what is the normal hydraulic lifter preload?

Would it be somewhat accurate to estimate if I shaved .046 thousandths off the head, that the pushrod should be approximiately that much shorter? So instead of a 7.4" a 7.35?

If you have a huge lifter preload, so that even when the valve is completely closed there is no play in the rocker arm, would it still produce a ticking sound?

Stock lifters are typically set at 0.080" - 0.100". The ones that I have measured were closer to 0.100" stock. Your approximation should put you in the ballpark, however always best to measure.

So shouldn't stock rockers on stock heads(whether ported/milled etc) should have a fairly accurate(as far as from the factory goes) wipe pattern?

When I upgraded the cam I bought the CompR lifters, which I hear "like" to have less preload?

Actually, the stock wipe pattern is horrible, but the valve guides are a different material and the spring loads are much lower. Comp R lifters require a preload of 0.002" - 0.004" and they also require an adjustable rocker setup. A lot of guys have had these rockers grenade on them and wipe out the motor.
