Default Clutch for a C5 Z06....

I have a 01 Z06 that I am planning on putting....

Halltech Intake
Longtubes - ARH/LGs
Nitrous Kit - No more then a 100shot.... For now.

What would be the best clutch to get for the car? This is not gonna be a track car by any means. I might take it to the track once or twice in a year. I dont daily drive the car either. Its just a weekend car, when weather is nice, that I have fun in.

Ive heard good things about the LS7, but Im not sure if it will hold the power.... Any advice would help. Thanx.

I'd say LS7 if you weren't spraying. Consider a Textralia or Spec setup.

I had a Spec 3+ before and never enjoyed it. Too much chatter. I havent driven a Spec clutch yet that doesnt have alot of chatter actually.

Just put down 706rwhp yesterday on my LS7 clutch. Clutch is about a year old at that power level.

I haven't had any problems and we're putting down about the same power. Now, I lift when I shift because I'm spraying, but i'm pretty quick at it and I haven't noticed anything.

I have the LS7 and like it so far. OEM feel that's able to hold the power.

I'd recommend getting a seat belt or harness put on your toilet then. Your gonna blast off into your attic one day.

Spec 3+ on mine very similar to what your planning for your set up. Mine probably sees the track 10/12 times a year. No slip with this clutch and it's got pretty good street manners too. I have no chatter in any forward gear, a little in reverse. Pedal pressure is close to stock.

^^^^ Really??? No chatter at all? Ive had the Spec 2, 2+, 3, and 3+ and all were terrible with chatter.... I would love to get a Spec clutch, I just hate the chatter.

Im putting down 351rwhp stock, so Im assuming I will be around 380-390rwhp with just the Longtubes and intake.... Im hoping for around 480rwhp on a 100shot....

My '01 is about to pass 59K on it's stock clutch... hard miles....

I'm thinking about an aluminum flywheel and another LS6 clutch...

After driving Reeves Callaway in his new '08 supercharged 'Vette talking with him as we drove (and I drove his car HARD) he mentioned that the new LS3 (08) clutch is the old LS6 clutch; and that got my mind thinking....

Hell my old Twin Turbo Firehawk -'02 with a factory LS6 clutch held up to 40k miles heavily cammed/geared and then 5k miles with 600+ rwhp (Incon TT) and only as I sold the car 5k miles after that would the pedal stick on very hard driving sessions....

LS6 with a lightweight flywheel has my next choice.....

The LS7 doesn't like slipping (heat) although it can hold the torque, but so can the LS6, as evidenced by the choice of using it with the LS3 engine....

My $.02

Tex holds like a champ for me. I could destroy the LS6 clutch pretty easy back when I was running a 100 shot, and hated when it stuck on the floor. It doesn't do that anymore. I'm using the LS6 flywheel and Tex clutch, and it's seen 5500rpm dumps on ET Streets, also WOT no lift shifting. It seems like this clutch says "is that all you got"?

i'm gonna be pushin' my stocker soon here i think. I'm getting the famous peddle stuck to the floor now. IDK what that means really but it's f*ckin' annoying.
