Default Help my Setup

Okay, I'm building a pro-touring 68 Camaro and I'm going to use an LS1 T-56, the car will be eventually twin-turboed. But heres what I'm thinking for my setup first.
LS6 Intake Manifold
LS6 Ported Heads
Lunati Forged Racing Pistons 10.5cc

What cam should I go with?
Anything else I should do while I have the engine out of the car?
What kind of power can I expect from a 2000 LS1 with those mods.

Thanks in advance, any help is GREATLY appreciated

Thanks again,
Ralph

If you want a build a turbo motor and plan to drive on pump gas, you will need to be in the ~9:1 range for compression.

LS6 heads are 64cc's and so might make it a little harder to keep the compression down, LS1's are 67cc and 6.0's are 70cc's.

Okay I didn't even think about compression. How about Cartek Stage 2 or Stage 2-X LS6 Heads with The "HS" Cam 224 EXH-224 .570" LIFT, 112 LSA
This with Lunati Forged RAcing Pistons 10.5cc and an LS6 intake...What kind of power do you think that will make, or is it better to go with the LS6 ported heads????...LS1 newbie, soooo confused

Oh yeah Pro Stock John, I was meaning to thank you, I think I will be buying that LS1 and T-56 of the person you referred me to. It has only 136miles on the engine and has been sitting for two years, thanks alot for the referral.

So what do you think about the Stage 2 LS6 ported heads and the HS Cam to match with forged lunati 10.5cc pistons, and an ls6 intake, as well as some other small mods like a lid and throttle body bypass and such. Is this a good setup for a future twin turbo or procharged engine? I'm really looking to get some good power at first from the engine before I go FI, and I am willing to sacrifice a little now for the FI, but I would like to go with that head and cam package, or do you think I'm better off just going with LS6 ported heads from SDPC and a decent cam.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Ralph

LS6 heads aren't worth the extra $1200-1400 core charge if you are staying 346ci (stock). Just have your LS1 heads ported, several of our sponsors make excellent ported heads, we literally have ALL of the best LS1 head porters here.

Your car won't need a lid like ours. You most likely will get away with a 90 degree elbow off of the t-body, a tube, and an open filter on the end of the tube. This is similar to how the trucks have it, as well as the LT1 f-bodies.

224/224 112 cam would be a nice all-motor cam. If you want a forced induction camshaft, go with a little more exhaust duration and more lobe seperation. Something like 224/230 114. This will still work okay on motor alone, probably just give up some low-midrange torque over the 224/224

$3K is a nice deal for a low mileage LS1 with the T56. Told you to shop around some more

Hey Tony, thanks very much for the advice
With the Lunati Forged Racing Pistons from SDPC that I'm looking at does the block have to be machined, they are a 3.889 bore I believe..What is required to do for the piston swap in regards to the block and other engine components, and will this be a good piston to use with the LS1(Thanks again for the advice on the heads) Stage 2-X Heads and the corresponding cam that is suggested for use with these heads...INT-224 EXH-224 .570" LIFT, 112 LSA (Thanks again!!!for the cam advince)...What do you think good or bad? Hard to swap pistons... alot of work?

Also...One more quick question(Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate the help alot!) How much computer tuning will this setup require, is there anyway I can do the tuning my self or buy a programmer that adjusts the computer? Soo confused

Thanks again,
Ralph
