how much will this help. torque converter and 3.73 gears
i got an a4 02 z28 with just a loudmouth, buddy of mine told me to change the gears. i was looking into 3.73 since that what the guys on here prefer for street. i was told by another f-body owner to get a torque converter but the guy pulled off before he finished explaining to what it was. this is my daily driver. just looking for some opinions, thanxs

which gear do you currently have? If it is the 2.73 I'd probably change it. If you have the 3.23, I'd definitely go with the torque converter. You can learn a TON about them in our Automatic Transmission forum.
I'd recommend a 3200-3600 rpm stall torque converter for a daily-driver.

I have a 99 camaro a4 that came stock with 2.73's. I took them out and put 3.73's in and a vig3200 stall and went from running 13.80's to 13.30's and ,my 60ft time went from a 2.1x street tires, stock) to low 1.8x's(et streets, converter,3.73's)

I put 3.73 in mine and I am very dissapointed in them. I have no time slips to see the difference it made but I feel like it was not worth the money. I had the 3.23 in it before. I think I can run the times I want with just a very good converter. I also hate not being able to hit 160mph top end any more. I am going to put a converter in my car next and get some times down then swap back to the 3.23's and see what the difference is. If it is close to the same, I am getting ride of the 3.73's. Try the converter first. Thats my 2 cents.

why do you need to go 160?? Do you want to kill someone whos going 70 and turns into your lane cuz they dont realize some dipshit is going to damn fast on a public street.

Its just the pleasure of being able to do it. Just like running low ET's. Also, we have about 3 to 4 open road races a year out here. They have several different classes, from 80 mph up to 200 or so. That is were and when I would run the top speed. I have run up to 160 ( I am a reserve cop and had our K-9 Officer clock me) but I would not want to maintane that speed due to my rpm(this was done with the car stock and with the original 3.23 gearing). I do plan on running in next years open road and I still want to run with the others on the street that run 12's (that is 12's at 3200 feet and 100 degree weather). yes it is stupid to do this on a public road. So what are ya'lls thoughts?

No offence taken. He is right. No one should be running 200 mph on a public road. That is not my intention though. Like I said before I plan to run in the open road races. Oh, and he is correct, most of the time I am a dipshit.
