Considering the armed forces
I've always wanted to join the Army and I think later in life that would be something that I would regret not doing and I had a few questions on somethings.
I'm a senior majoring in Math and a minor in Engineering and if I enlisted would I go straight to OCS or is there a test that lets me into it?
What determines my career in the army? Is it the ASVAB? I ask because I want to use math and engineering as an engineering officer but I don't want to end up as a medic.
Thanks
David Wren

How many credits do you have?
If you are almost done with school with that as a major, I would tell you to honestly get a civilian job. Consider it more if the market where you live for jobs isnt in your favor. I always tell people who enlist to consider it if they want to (for a minimum period of time at first) or if they have nowhere else to go.
I cant speak of all units in the military, or the army, but I can speak of the 4 places I've been to, places I've seen and the changing of the times. The military is stressed. Lots of crap to deal with because of it. Dont let a recruiter tell you different. My $.02

You go to the needs of the army as an officer and you would be an idiot to go enlisted when you have a degree. So you either have to suck it up and realize that the military doesn't care about you and join or you could stay a civilian and make real money and possibly have a real life. That all depends on you.

I would also consider the air force with the minor you have in engineering. They only do 90-180 day trips to Iraq instead of the 15 months that the army does.
Don't enlist either. Go straight to OTS. You would have to be enlisted for 4 years to benefit from it at all.
