Default Pictures of TA's with portions painted, stripes, etc...

I saw an avatar of a TA with the back lower bumper portion painted black but it was a small picture. Would like to see other pictures of paint stuff people have done to break up the mono-color they all come with (except maybe Special Editions). TIA!

This is called the "CETA" mod because collectors edition trans ams came with it... Try searching for CETA and you'll probably find all kinds of results! I think this looks awesome on lighter cars like yellow and white, but wondered how it would look on my NBM/tan ragtop car. Theres also write ups on here or ls1.com somewhere on how to do it.

Gotcha. Don't see any Pewter cars done. Anyone do a two-tone scheme?

lol. did you "two tone it" or did you buy a factory ground effects kit from someone and not get it painted to match? it will look nice when you do get it painted... ...until then let it sit in your garage, not on the car.

Looking at those pics I don't see how you could two-tone it or stripe it in any fashion. Only nice parting line is the rear bumper CETA. Need to see one done Pewter but imagine gloss black is the only color that would look good on Pewter.

Looks like it varies whether to go all the way out to the edge of the channel or not. I stopped by Maaco to see how much to do it in gloss black base/clear and they gave me a written quote of $228 saying the bumper would need to come off. He said they couldn't get under the car to paint it right without removal.

Where did you get the filler between the lights without the logo?

I see yours doesn't go to the upper part of the channel but the black does look good!

Sanded the stock one down to nothing...then got Plastix polish and polished it to a shine

Off topic: my initials are in the rear side markers and I forgot to paint them before I sold the car ...people still riding around with my name lol

yes thats the correct way to paint a bumper, by taking it off, insures good quality reputable shop.

I was/am a Big Dale sr. Fan and always loved look of his black/silver/red car that he drove, So when I did the CETA mod to my car I figured that it would look good if I Put a red pinstripe between the silver and the black. I love the way that it came out.

The colors look alot better in person

Maaco sucks, I wouldn't take it there. The bumper takes literally 10 minutes to take off. I would take it off and do it yourself, if you're not comfortable, take it off and take it to the dealership or another reputable shop. Every person I've talked to (here, and locally) despises Maaco.

Procedure for taking bumper off?

I also didn't like that they would need my car 2-3 days. Don't really want to leave it with anyone that length of time.

Heres what is looks like a NBM car. I just wet sanded my and then wiped it down with Isopropyl alcohol then mixed some paint up, tac off the area i was going to paint and painted it. I should of taken the bumber off but i jacked the car up so i could get the bottom better, and heres is how you get rid of the red firebird on the center peice.
