Default Please Help, Car Won't Revv

Alright guys, I've got a 95 Formula and for some odd reason it just stopped revving period. I've replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, and ignition control module.....and still nothing has seemed to help.....even put a new fuel filter on it just because for some odd reason that usually helps. But it didn't. Has a half tank of gas in it too, so thats not the problem. So if you guys can think of anything let me know please. Thanks!!

Oh yea, i was even extra careful not to get the new cap and rotor wet.....

Do you have access to an obdi scan tool for a '95 to read any codes?

sounds like the problem i had... went to replace the cap and rotor and i guess when i took the cap off and got the opti broke down to the optical sensor i guess i somehow ruined the sensor... so when i put the opti back on the car i could get it to start, but it ran at like 400 rpms or so and when i would hit the gas it wouldnt advance any... so ended up i needed a new opti... and i replaced the coil, cap and rotor, plugs and wires, and about anything i could think of... but i dont know how you can check if its a bad opti or not, but that ended up being my problem... slapped a new one on it and it was as good as new

I do have access to a obdI scanner but the thing is I've ran it and it never threw any codes.....no lights are on or anything...I havent checked the fuel pressure but it idles fine......I'll scan it again tonight and see what happens......I just replaced the MAP sensor, and the TPS sensor also......and still no luck. Thats the reason I changed the cap and rotor is because it wasn't revving before......and it still didnt help it. I don't have any other ideas of what it might be.

you think the fuel pressure is fine because it idles ok? it uses more fuel above idle.

What do you mean it wont rev up? As in it wont go above a certain RPM? Can you drive it? Does it max out at a certain speed or bog down? Quit throwing parts at it and give a better description of the problem.

As said above, check fuel pressure. It could also be a plugged converter.

I'm working on checking the damn fuel pressure.... yes I know it uses more fuel above idle and I know that it requires more fuel pressure to do that. I work about 60 hours a week, and don't have alot of time to **** with it. Thats why I haven't checked it yet. But trust me, my next off day, it will be checked.

But more on the problem; it will not rev above a certain rpm.....and if you drive it, when you try to accelerate it bogs.....yes i know fuel pressure....I'm working on it. Thanks!!

Alright, I checked the fuel pressure today and with the switch on, i had 40 lbs, and with the car at idle it was 35 lbs. I believe that 40 isnt going to make it run like it is. since it only has 46 from the factory.

Check exhaust back pressure....might have a plugged converter. The symptoms you describe point me in that direction. Back pressure shouldnt be much over 1-2 psi.

Cut the conveter off yesterday. Crunk the car and it ran great. I thought that was the problem but hey, it got a tune up while I was at it. Thanks for the help!
