Default wiring mini tach help!!!

ok so my buddy and i were trying to wire a mini tach that i got in the a-pillar. anyways we tried running it off of the #35 blue wire off of the PCM, and we tried running it off of the negative off of the coil wiring harness (i think the brown on the passenger side?) anyways neither of them worked at all, anyone got any suggestions??? car is a 98 i know its a little different than the 99+.

on a 98 its pin 35 white wire thats what u want to hook up your tach.

Does the mini tach have a adjustment on it for 4cyl, 6cyl, and 8cyl.

ok so i just messed around with it for another 2 hours.... there is no blue #35, i think its actually port 36 and the white wire is in port #40 so what gives?

Yeah, don't know why it says that - but in the text it's for '98, which is correct for the pinouts.
