ADR M sports and CETA: pics inside... 56k go race snails through molasses
The new ADR M Sports are finally on the car. They're 18x9.5 all around with 295/35R18s out back and 275/35R18s up front. The car is riding on stock springs with 1.5 coils cut in the back and 1.25 coils cut in front. Wheel rub was definitely going to be an issue with the 35mm offset and wide rear tires...
So I had to roll the rear fender lips with a homemade fender roller consisting of a baseball bat and a cargo strap . Be warned that at this ride height, the tires still rub but the edge of the fender is not longer gouging the tire. With the fender lips rolled up into a nice U-shape, it's just a bit of harmless rubbing that happens only if I throw the car into dips in the road, stuff that I should be slowing down for anyway.
Then it was time for the CETA mod, so out came the masking tape, garbage bags, and charcoal metallic Duplicolor rattle can. Here is the final result:

very nice I like it alot. I'm thinking about something like that for my car, but can't decide. Looks great on a white car. I'd vote for some tint and possible blacked out top like the t-top cars??? Sick car the way it is though

Thanks for all the compliments guys!
Thanks man! Tint has been in the works for some time now. Only reason I haven't gotten it yet is the welding splatter left over on my driver's side window from repair work done on the window regulator. I'm hoping the glass didn't get pitted. I actually like the way the hardtop looks... that was one reason for not getting a t-top car.
Although I know my car looks different, your car was the inspiration for the new wheels and the change in stance. I wasn't very sure how the cut springs would work but I couldn't be happier with them. Just the right height and ride.
I definitely didn't want to use black after I sold my black wheels. I was actually looking for something lighter that would flow better with the color of the ADRs but I'm very happy with the way the charcoal metallic turned out. It looks great in person.

Thats cool man, the white top looks hot. The hard top cars seem to be kind of rare, my Z is a hardtop with matching top but mines getting blacked out in a few weeks when the tint comes.
Sucks about the welding splatter, my truck had that but from a grinder shooting sparks at it.

Real easy. You need to trim the bottom of the front springs and top of the rear springs, i.e. the wide ends. A large hacksaw, like say a 14" one, will work just fine. I saw an electric bandsaw at a friend's shop that made the cuts for all 4 springs in 5 minutes, but the hacksaw I used to make the initial marks seemed to work quite well too. I would suggest getting some springs from a junkyard so that way your downtime is minimized and you have a spare set of stock springs too in case you mess up.
